Varnado defeated in its tournament Thanksgiving week, goes 2-0 in recent games

Varnado’s Wildcats were defeated in their tournament, but have won the last two games.
The Wildcat Winter Basketball Classic took place Nov. 22-23.
The first game was a 68-43 loss to 2021 Class C state semifinalist Phoenix on Monday, Nov. 22.
Dameon Roberts Jr. tallied 22 points to lead Varnado.
The Wildcats played two games the next day and were defeated by South Terrebonne and Amite.
The game against South Terrebonne was 83-44.
Roberts scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
C.J. Jackson posted nine points and six boards.
Varnado came up short to Amite, 86-83.
Miguel Fland missed a triple-double by just two rebounds.
He recorded 21 points, 10 assists and eight boards.
Roberts recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds to go with two blocks.
Jackson tallied 16 points and five assists.
Quovadis Bickham posted 11 points and five boards.
Tyren Downs had nine points, four assists and six steals.
On Monday, Varnado was victorious over First Baptist Christian School, 103-37, on the road.
Three players hit the 20-point mark.
Fland led the group with 22 points to go with seven assists and six steals.
Jackson posted a double-double with 21 points and 10 steals along with seven rebounds.
Roberts also had a double-double. He went for 20 points and 10 boards to go with four blocked shots.
Quanta Peters tallied 18 points and seven boards.
The next day was a 60-56 win over Loranger at home.
Roberts posted a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards along with a blocked shot.
Peters recorded 15 points and four steals.
Bickham tallied a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
Fland scored 10 points, dished out eight assists and made three steals.
Varnado’s next game will take place on Tuesday at home against Jewel Sumner.
