SLU’s Makuvire earns USTFCCCA All-South Central Region honors

After qualifying for the National Championships this past weekend, Southeastern Louisiana University’s Bradley Makuvire was named to the 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country All-South Central Region, the USTFCCCA announced Monday.
Makuvire, a sophomore, has put together a remarkable 2021 season for the Lions. The Zvishavane, Zimbabwe native won four straight races to start the season, including the Southland Conference 8k men’s championship race.
This past weekend, Makuvire finished 11th in the NCAA Regional 10k race earning a spot in the Division I National Championship Race.
Makuvire adds to a resume that includes two Southland Conference Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week awards and USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week for Oct. 11.
Makuvire, the Southland Conference Male Cross Country Athlete of the Year, was one of just 25 to make the All-South Central Region team, and five from the Southland Conference.
Next up, Makuvire will compete in the NCAA Division I Cross Country National Championships Saturday, Nov. 20 in Tallahassee, Florida hosted by Florida State at Apalachee Regional Park. The race is slated for 10:10 a.m. CT.
