Dingle Claims Southland weekly honors

After helping No. 13 Southeastern Louisiana University to a 56-28 Southland Conference victory over Northwestern State, SLU senior wide receiver/kick returner Brennon Dingle was named the Southland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week in an announcement from the league office on Monday.
The weekly honor is the first for Dingle. The Baltimore native is the third Lion to earn Southland Special Team Player of the Week honors this fall, joining punter Austin Dunlap (Sept. 13 and Nov. 1) and wide receiver/kick returner Gage Larvadain (Oct. 11).
Dingle averaged 37.6 yards per kickoff return in Saturday’s win over the Demons. His 80-yard return set up a two-yard touchdown run by Cephus Johnson III in the third quarter. He also caught a pair of passes for 56 yards, finishing the night with a game-high 169 all-purpose yards.
Dingle and the Lions will have a chance to clinch at least a share of the Southland Conference championship on Thursday, when it hosts Nicholls for the River Bell Classic at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. Dingle will be one of the members of the senior class that will be honored approximately 30 minutes before kickoff.
The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard in the Hammond area on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM, as well as online at www.kajun107.net.
