Coastal Carolina’s Megan Brouse and Louisiana’s Ruthny Mathurin each turned in standout performances for their respective teams this past weekend and earned Sun Belt Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Megan Brouse, Coastal Carolina

Chanticleers’ junior forward Megan Brouse tallied her first career hat trick on the road in Coastal Carolina’s 4-1 win against Georgia Southern on Friday night. In the process, she became the Chants’ 2021 season-leading scorer with her six total goals. Notably, her hat trick was the first for Coastal Carolina since November 2016 and helped CCU earn the program’s 200th all-time victory.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Ruthny Mathurin, Louisiana

Ragin Cajuns’ freshman defender Ruthny Mathurin recorded a pair of assists – both off corner kicks – and played strong defense during Louisiana’s 1-0-1 week. She assisted on Tatum Beck’s goal in the 65th minute on Thursday in a 3-0 win against Little Rock. Mathurin helped Louisiana to a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute against Texas State with a corner kick that was headed in by freshman Carol Rodriguez. She logged a season-high 110 minutes against Texas State to go over the 1,000-minute mark during the 2021 campaign.
