The Southeastern Louisiana University men’s golf team looks to continue to improve as they will play in the first and second rounds of the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational hosted by North Alabama that began Monday at the Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club (par 72-7,133 yards) beginning at 8 a.m.

The 11-team tournament will feature North Alabama, Tennessee-Martin, Chicago State, Murray State, Southern Illinois, Rollins, Stetson, Alabama A&M, Texas Southern, Valparaiso and SLU.

The Lions showed signs of improvements last week at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate as both Logan Kuehn and Cameron Mobley found themselves in the Top 20 after two rounds.

Kuehn, a senior, leads the team in stroke average at 74.50 despite missing the final two rounds of the season-opening tournament due to stitches on his right hand following a swing. The Lake Charles, Louisiana native was in 12th place after 36 holes at the BBI before finishing tied for 31st.

Mobley, out of Brandon, Mississippi, is averaging a 75.50 score per round. The sophomore finished last weekend tied for 27th as he had solid second and final rounds where he shot 73 and 74.

Sophomore Grant Glorioso will look to build off his final round 75 (+2) to help the Lions push toward the top of the leaderboard this weekend.

Lions’ senior Kris Kerr is still working his way back after missing most of the 2020-21 season with an injury. The Loranger, Louisiana native shot 74 (+1) in the second round of the BBI as he looks to return to his 2019-20 form where he had a 74.22 stroke average.
