The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team dropped its first Southland Conference match of the season Thursday, falling in three sets against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 25-13, 25-22, 25-21, at the Dugan Wellness Center.

SLU (2-11, 1-1 SLC) came out sluggish against the Islanders (6-7, 2-0 SLC), hitting a combined .065 in the first two sets. Despite bouncing back offensively in the third set, out-hitting A&M-Corpus Christi and forcing five tie scores, the Lady Lions were unable to ward off defeat in the first of two meetings between the teams this season.

Cicily Hidalgo, the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week two weeks running, recorded a match-high 12 kills for the Lady Lions. Karlee Wilkerson and preseason All-Conference selection Crispin Adams added seven and six kills, respectively.

Gracie Duplechein, a freshman setter from St. Amant, Louisiana, handed out 20 assists while Jolie Hidalgo and Addie Vidrine each served up an ace.

Hannah Haerer, a freshman from DeFuniak Springs, Florida, had a hand in four of Southeastern’s six team blocks. Sophomore libero Ansley Tullis led the Lady Lions with 10 digs.
