Coastal Carolina’s Doris Carter, Georgia Southern’s Ashlyn Lovett and South Alabama’s Kailey Keeble all recorded strong performances in the opening week of the Sun Belt Conference season and were named Sun Belt Volleyball Players of the Week.

Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week
Doris Carter, Coastal Carolina
(Gr., Lexington, Ky.)

Chanticleers’ outside hitter Doris Carter, a graduate transfer from Alabama, propelled Coastal Carolina to a pair of victories against Little Rock and Arkansas State with 36 kills this past weekend. On Friday, Carter totaled 15 kills and 11 digs for a double-double in a sweep of the Trojans. Two days later, she recorded a season-high 21 kills in the four-set win against the Red Wolves. Carter was able to hit efficiently, swinging at better than .350 in both matches.

Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Ashlyn Lovett, Georgia Southern
(Fr., Shawnee, Kan.)

Eagles’ freshman defensive specialist Ashlyn Lovett averaged 5.89 digs per set in a 2-0 weekend for Georgia Southern that included wins against ULM and Louisiana. She also tallied two aces and three assists on the weekend. Lovett charted 26 digs at ULM and followed that performance with 27 digs at Louisiana.

Volleyball Setter of the Week
Kailey Keeble, South Alabama
(Jr., Maryville, Tenn.)

Jaguars’ junior setter Kailey Keeble recorded 68 assists in six sets for an average of 11.33 assists per set in a pair of wins against UTA and Texas State. She posted double-doubles in each match. Against UTA, Keeble finished with 29 assists and 12 digs, to go along with two kills and two blocks. Against Texas State, she totaled 39 assists and 12 digs, in addition to three blocks.
