Southern Miss ties for 11th place at Husky Invitational

Freshman Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) shot a final-round 70 to lead Southern Miss on the last day of the Husky Invitational in Bremerton, Wash.

Dupuy helped the Golden Eagles collect a final team round of 292 to finish the event tied for 11th with Toledo after posting a 54-hole score of 10-over-par 874 at the par 72 Olympic course at the Gold Mountain Golf Club.

Sophomore Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) enjoyed the highest finish in the individual standings with a one-over 217 to finish 28th in the tournament. Both senior Hunter Atkins (West Point, Miss.) and sophomore Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand) ended two strokes back at 219, after they each shot 74 to place tied for 31st.

Dupuy tied for 55th with a 223-overall total, while senior Brice Wilkinson (Madison, Miss.) carded a 74 over his final round to end with a 226 and a 63rd-place tie.

Host Washington and Nevada shared the team title with an 18-under 846 stroke total, while Oregon State finished third four strokes back at 850.

A trio of Golden Eagles also played in the individual event that was played on the Cascade course at Gold Mountain. In that event, Warwick Purchase finished tied for eighth after shooting 70-68-73 for a five-under 211, while senior Brian Richards (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) posted a 68-76-72 for an even-par 216 and finished in a 20th-place tie.

Freshman Cameron Guidry (Picayune, Miss.) rounded out the Southern Miss individual finished with a 76-73-81 for a 230 total and a 38th-place tie.

The Golden Eagles return from the West Coast to play a tournament back on the East Coast next when they travel to the Old Town Club Collegiate in Winston-Salem, N.C., Sept. 27-28. Wake Forest serves as the host for that event.
