Georgia Southern’s Elis Nemtsov and Little Rock’s Bergros Asgeirsdottir each turned in standout performances in the opening week of Sun Belt Conference competition to garner Sun Belt Women’s Soccer Player of the Week recognition.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Elis Nemtsov, Georgia Southern

Eagles’ redshirt freshman forward Elis Nemtsov tallied three goals this past week as Georgia Southern opened its Sun Belt Conference slate vs. App State and closed out its non-conference schedule at Ole Miss. She tallied a pair of second-half goals in Friday’s 4-1 win against App State, marking her second brace of the year. Nemtsov also added a second-half goal in her team’s close 2-1 loss against the Rebels. Her six goals this season are tied for the team lead and rank among the top-five in the Sun Belt.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Bergros Asgeirsdottir, Little Rock
(Sr., Selfoss, Iceland)

Trojans’ senior defender Bergros Asgeirsdottir charted a pair of goals to lead Little Rock to a 1-0-1 start to Sun Belt Conference play. She scored the game-winning goal in overtime off a penalty kick to lead Little Rock to the 1-0 victory against Troy. She followed that with the game-tying goal in the 85th minute against South Alabama on Sunday as the Trojans and Jaguars tied 1-1. Over the weekend, Asgeirsdottir became Little Rock’s all-time leader in minutes and games played. She anchored the Trojans’ defensive unit that helped guide Little Rock to a pair of shutouts on the week (vs. Jackson State and Troy), conceding just one goal in 296 minutes of action.
