Rebuilding Lives through Sports Basketball Camp is this week
The Rebuilding Lives through Sports Basketball Camp will take place on Thursday and Friday at the Greater Hayes Creek Church under Pastor Jerome Warren.
Girls in fifth grade to 12th grade and boys from fourth grade to ninth grade are eligible.
The camp runs from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
The cost is $50 per participant.
The camp features competitive drills, free-throw shooting, fundamental basketball skills and conditioning.
The clinic will include special appearances by Andy Stoglin and Ruthie Bolton.
Stoglin will also be doing a coaching clinic for high school and college coaches at the camp at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Registration is $25.
Some of Stoglin’s accomplishments are that he has been part of four final fours coming with Kansas, UCLA, Villonova and Western Kentucky and he was part of a national championship with UCLA. He guided an ABA team to the 2002-03 playoffs with an 22-4 record and was an FIBA American Cup head coach with the team going 45-2. He played with the Harlem Globetrotters.
Bolton is a two-time Olympian. She will also be at City Hall on Thursday at 10 a.m. for a book signing and she will be receiving a key to the city.

Police vs. Preachers Basketball Tournament is later this month
Ben’s Ford Christian School is hosting the Police vs. Preachers Basketball Tournament on Saturday, June 26.
The event will feature four teams. The teams will include Team Law and Team Order for the teams with the police. The preachers teams will be Team Elders and Team Bishops.
The competition is open to the public and costs $3 for admission.
The event runs from 9:30 a.m. until noon.
Proceeds will benefit the Bogalusa Help Center and Ben’s Ford Christian School Athletics.

D.W. Trosclair Basketball Camp is in July
The D.W. Trosclair Basketball Camp will take place from July 14-16 in Varnado High School’s gym.
The camp is open for kindergartners through eighth graders.
The clinic will teach the participants offensive and defensive skills to be a better basketball player.
The clinic will feature skill stations, shooting stations, 3-on-3 games and contests and 5-on-5 games and contests.
The camp will run from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and is open to boys and girls from kindergarten through eighth grade.
The cost is $25 per child. If the children live in the same home, the cost is $15 per child.

Franklinton Soccer Club Fall Season starts in August
The Franklinton Soccer Club will host the Fall Season beginning the week of Aug. 9 through Sept. 25.
Registration is open at www.franklintonsoccerclub.com.
Players ages 3 by Jan.1, 2021 to age 19 are welcome.
The $60 membership fee is paid once per year and covers the spring & fall seasons.
Uniforms for ages 3-6 are $20 and can be used yearly. Uniforms for those above 6 are $70 and include two jerseys, one shorts and socks. Those can be worn yearly until the player has outgrown them.
The early bird sign up for uniforms ends on Monday, July 5.
After that time, there will be a $10 late fee to process uniforms, which take 4 weeks to print and ship. The club plays at Atoka Recreation Park, which is located two miles from the Washington Parish Fairgrounds on Louisiana Highway 25.

Pearl River Community College holding softball camps
The Pearl River Community College softball team has announced a summer full of camps. A Kids Camp will run from June 14-16, while the Danielle Barton Training Academy Camp will be Saturday, June 29 and the PRCC Pitching Clinics will take place July 26-27.
The Wildcat Kids Camp is for children ages 7-12 and will cost $75 per kid. The camp will be hosted at friendship park in Picayune, Miss. and will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Campers will be able to learn all the fundamentals such as pitching, hitting, fielding, catching and base running. Train with the Pearl River softball coaches at the Danielle Barton Training Academy in Saucier, Miss. The camp will provide hitting and pitching lessons from a collegiate coaching staff. The pitching clinic will be instructed by head coach Christie Meeks and will help refine pitching mechanics. The cost of the clinic is $50 per student. Southern Miss Baseball Set to Hold a Variety of Camps This Summer
After a year hiatus, Southern Miss baseball returns with a variety of camp options including a Prospect ID camp (June 30), a Kids clinic (July 12-15), a Prospect Showcase Camp (July 17), a team camp (July 23-25) and a Father-Son/Daughter Camp (Aug. 21) this summer at Pete Taylor.

The USM Baseball Summer Prospect ID Camp will take place on Wednesday, June 9 at
Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
Registration/sign-in runs from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. with the clinic starting at 10 a.m.
Ninth graders through sophomore junior college players are eligible.
The participant fee is $200 (registration fee not included).
The camp is designed for prospective student-athletes ranging from high school freshman to junior college sophomores (junior college freshman must be academic qualifier) to showcase their abilities in front of the entire USM baseball coaching staff along with other college coaches and scouts. Participants will be given a chance to have their skills (hitting, fielding, speed, pitching, etc.) evaluated by college coaches. Any pitcher who is a dual player will be able to participate at both positions. Each camper will receive a camp T-Shirt. Lunch will not be provided. Approximately, 75 percent of past USM baseball rosters have been filled by USM camp participants.

The USM Summer Team Camp is from Friday, July 23 through Sunday, July 25 at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
The cost is $800 entry plus $60 per game for umpires (paid to umpire by each team prior to the game).
The entry fee per team includes three games (possibly four), which will be played at USM. It will also cover insurance for the camp and facility usage. Team will be separated by age group (18u versus 18u and so on). A game bracket will be made up in the weeks leading up to camp so you know when you play. Teams will be responsible for their own lodging and game balls. Teams that win their bracket will play in championship games on Sunday.
The USM Father Son/Daughter Camp is being held on Saturday, Aug. 21 at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
Registration/sign-in is from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
The clinic runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Eligible participants are kindergartners through eighth graders and their father/guardian.
The fee is $100 per father and one son or daughter and $50 for each additional child.
The Southern Miss Baseball Father Son/Daughter Camp is an opportunity to spend an afternoon with your son or daughter on the baseball field at Pete Taylor Park / Hill Denson Field. This camp will provide an outstanding bonding opportunity for the parent and child while also learning the game of baseball and developing an understanding of key fundamentals in maximizing their son’s full potential. Teaching areas will include pitching, hitting, catching, infield and outfield play. The goal of this one-day camp is to provide answers and training solutions to the questions that are most often asked by today’s fathers and youth league players.
