Nicholls State University offensive lineman P.J. Burkhalter has an impressive resumé for the Colonels.
Now that resumé is even more impressive, as the 2015 Franklinton graduate has added two more awards.
Burkhalter was named to the Associated Press’ Football Championship Subdivison All-America First Team.
This was the second-straight season that Burkhalter has made the top team.
Earlier this offseason, Burkhalter was named the Southland Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year.
Burhalter was also named to the All-Louisiana First Team.
The All-Louisiana Team is voted on by a panel of Louisiana Sports Writers media members.
This is Burkhalter’s second-straight season of being an All-Louisiana First-Team Player.
This season, Burkhalter was part of an offensive line that blocked for the top rushing team in the conference in yards, average per carry, touchdowns, attempts and yards per game.
Nicholls State University ran for 1,844 yards on 311 attempts (5.9 yards per carry) with 25 touchdowns. The Colonels averaged 263.4 yards on the ground per game this season.
Burkhalter has one more year of eligibility for collegiate football left.
