Pine’s Raiders were defeated by Doyle in the first two games of a best-of-three series, 6-0 and 10-0, in the regional round of the Class 2A baseball state playoffs on the road April 30.
In the 6-0 game, Doyle tallied all of its runs in the first inning.
Game two lasted five innings.
Coby Sheridan, Ethan Ryals and Colby Comeaux all posted a hit for Pine.
No. 17 Pine went 15-6 this season.
The Raiders have two seniors in Sheridan and Comeaux.
“These two seniors have been a joy to coach,” Pine coach Blake Dillon said. “We have really had a enjoyable season and these guys have led the way. They go out as two of the most accomplished seniors in the program’s (history) with more playoff wins than any other senior before them. They have worked hard over their entire high school careers and deserve their recognition for having a great senior year. They will be missed by their teammates and the coaching staff.”
Top-seeded Doyle (27-8) is in the semifinals and plays No. 5 Loreauville (21-9) today in Sulphur. Doyle defeated eighth-seeded Kinder (21-15) in two games, 11-0 and 5-0. Loreauville won their series in three games over No. 4 DeQuincy (23-12) in three games. Loreauville was defeated in the first game, 12-6, but won the final two, 1-0 and 7-3.
