Mt. Hermon School topped by Monterey in Class B playoffs

Mt. Hermon School’s Yellow Jackets were defeated by Monterey, 3-1, in the bi-district round of the Class B state playoffs on Tuesday.
Trent Wilson tallied a hit that was a run-scoring single.
Jordan Harrison and Brady Smith both posted a hit.
Despite the loss, Grayson Painter was solid on the mound. He threw a complete game, allowing one earned run on three hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk.
No. 13 Mt. Hermon went 13-10 this season.
The team had eight seniors this year, including Jared Maples, Kameron Brumfield, Travell Brumfield, Kenley Curole, Josh Bennett, Trent Wilson, Tevin Williams and Josh Bennett.
“Great group of seniors that have helped turn this program around,” Mt. Hermon coach Matt Sessions said. “They have been great leaders and have truly been a blessing to coach. They have left a lasting impact on this program and I know they will all have success outside this sport.”
No. 20 Monterey (10-12) played in the quarterfinals yesterday against No. 12 Pitkin (15-11) after winning its regional round game, 5-2, over fourth-seeded Zwolle (18-8). Pitkin (20-11) defeated fifth-seeded Florien, 3-1.
