Roosevelt (Bell) James was born to the late Garfield James and the late Melissa James.

Brother Roosevelt (Bell) James was preceded in death by his wife, Diann C. James; one son, Wayne A. James; and one brother, Aurthor James.

On Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 2:30 p.m., Brother Roosevelt James was called home to rest.

He leaves to mourn: two daughters, Theresa James of Franklinton, and Torie James of Ponchatoula; three brothers, Benny Ray James of Franklinton, Randy Steve James of New Orleans, and James James of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Lauralee Thomas, Willimena Hollaway, Zetta Magee, and Sandra Faye (Humdai) Edress, all of New Orleans; eight grandchildren, Antjuan, Kirstan, Anissa, Sigourney, Kierra, Wayne James Jr., Martavius, and Tiara; five great-grandchildren, Walterius, Khalijah, Khristan, Lydrell Jr., and Lanelus Holmes III; and two good friends, George Shaw and Dee Dee Brock.

Drive-through viewing will be Friday, May 7, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Franklinton.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, May 8, at 11 p.m. at Sweet Rest Baptist Church, with the Rev. Norwert Hills, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Sweet Rest Cemetery.
