Franklinton softball defeated Lakeshore in Class 4A postseason

Franklinton’s Lady Demons were topped by Lakeshore, 4-2, in the regional round of the Class 4A state playoffs at home on Wednesday.

Skylar Branch posted two hits.

Khristian Schexnider tripled and drove in a run.

Brylie Fowler singled and scored a run.

Albanie Fussell singled.

Bailey Brooks scored a run.

The Lady Demons had five seniors this season, including Aleigha Fussell, Ashlyn Welch, Fowler, Missouri Varnado and Bailey Brooks.

Franklinton coach Leslie McGhee said that these seniors have been a pleasure to coach.

“Their commitment and pride given to the FHS softball program the last four years is outstanding,” McGhee said. They have done big things during their time here as Lady Demons, breaking all records and setting the bar high for any future Lady Demons softball player. I am most proud of the young ladies they have become and excited to see what their future holds. I give the utmost respect to their parents for raising such dedicated and genuine young ladies.”

No. 6 Franklinton went 21-9 this year.

No. 11 Lakeshore played third-seeded Tioga in the quarterfinals and was defeated 9-1.

Tioga (26-5) played No. 2 Beau Chene (22-2) in the state semifinals on Friday.

Lakeshore went 10-11 this year.
