Franklinton’s Williams takes 2nd in 2 events in district meet

Franklinton’s Bryan Williams came in second in two events, while Andrew Cain, Jakobie McCormick and Caleb Brown were runner-up in one event at the District 9-4A Meet that was held on Thursday at Salmen.

Williams ran second in the 100 meters and 200 with times of 11.88 seconds and 24.35. Salmen’s Jaylin Williams won the 100 in 11.58 by three tenths of a second, while Pearl River’s Seth Strahan topped the 200 in 24.32 by three one hundredths of a second.

Cain was runner-up in the 1,600 after running it in 5 minutes, 47 seconds. Teammate Aiden Walker was fourth in 5:56. Pearl River’s Malachi Mcguay won in 5:27.

McCormick was second in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 4 inches. Williams captured the high jump at 5-10.

Brown was second in the javelin with a throw of 148-6. Pearl River’s Cameron Lee won with a distance of 156-7.

The District 9-4A Meet was a qualifier. The top four finishers from each event made it to the 3-4A Regional Meet that takes place today at South Terrebonne. Franklinton is the only local school in District 9-4A.

Christiun Martin, Timarion Partman, Brown and Mason Freeman were all third in events.

Martin came in third in the 300 hurdles after running a 50.67. Lakeshore’s Luke Horner won in 43.41.

Partman came in third for the long jump with a 19-3.5. Pearl River’s Damionotae Price won the event at 20-3.

Brown was third for the discus with a distance of 99-6. Lakeshore’s Kyle Maggio won at 117-4.

Freeman was third in the shot put after posting a 37-10. Maggio won at 42-2.5.

Besides Walker, Cain and Franklinton’s 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams are headed to regionals with fourth-place tallies.

Cain was fourth in the 800 after running in 2:31.39. Salmen’s Tristen Pugmire won in 2:07.

Franklinton’s 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams made it to regionals with times of 49.48 and 1:44. Both teams featured Martin, Sebastian Magee, Partman and Ahmod Partman. Salmen both relays with times of 45.75 and 1:36.

Also for Franklinton, Brown was fifth in the long jump and triple jump after recording a 18-8.75 and 35-6.5 respectively.

McCormick was fifth for the 800 in 2:31.67.

Keaton Catrett came in fifth in the javelin with a throw of 112-1.

Timarion Partman took sixth in the 100 with a time of 12.53.

McCormick was sixth in the 400 at 1:14. Mcguay won in 57.46.

James Slade was seventh in the discus and shot put with distances of 30-1 and 30-11.
