Bogalusa’s Holloway captures shot put in league competition

Bogalusa’s Kaitlin Hollway was victorious in the shot put and several Lady Jacks are headed to regionals after their performances in the District 8-3A Meet that was held on April 20 at Jewel Sumner.

Holloway won the shot put with a distance of 28 feet, 0.5 inches. Teammate Mary Ladner was second at 27-4.

The meet was a qualifier. The top four finishers in each event made it to regionals. The 3-3A Regional meet will take place on Wednesday at West Feliciana.

Bogalusa is the only team from Washington Parish in District 8-3A.

Ladner was third in the javelin and 100 meters. Ladner threw the javelin 96-1 and ran the 100 in 13.29 seconds. Albany’s Molly Landry won javelin at 102-3 and Loranger’s Tori Burton was best in the 100 in 12.75.

Holloway is also headed to regionals in the long jump after coming in fourth at 14-11. Loranger’s Amiracle Collins won at 16-10.5.

Also for Bogalusa, Holloway was fifth in the 300 hurdles and javelin. Holloway ran the 300 hurdles in 1 minute, 7 seconds and she threw the javelin 49-6. Loranger’s Madison Ackerman won the 300 hurdles in 54 seconds.

Loranger won the team competition with 122 points, as five teams posted points.

Albany was second with 112, followed by Archbishop Hannan’s 85 and Bogalusa and Jewel Sumner tied for fourth with 25 each.
