Franklinton softball defeated in tourney, wins on Monday

Franklinton’s Lady Demons were defeated in the Live Oak Tournament, but won against St. Scholastica Academy in games held on Friday, Saturday and Monday.
Franklinton lost its three games in the Live Oak Tournament.
On Friday, Franklinton was defeated by Live Oak, 11-1, in five innings.
Brylie Fowler hit a home run for the Lady Demons’ only hit.
On Saturday, Franklinton was defeated by Vandebilt Catholic and Notre Dame.
The game against Vandebilt was 6-2.
Bailey Brooks tallied two hits and a run scored.
Khristian Schexnider and Aleigha Fussell both had a hit and a run batted in.
Fowler, Missouri Varnado and Caylin Turnage all had a single.
Ashley Smith scored a run.
Their final game of the tournament was a 15-0 loss to Notre Dame in four innings.
Franklinton had one hit, which was a single by Fowler.
Notre Dame is the top ranked team in the unofficial LHSAA Division III power point rankings as of March 23.
In non-tournament action on Monday, Franklinton defeated St. Scholastica Academy, 14-0, in five innings in a District 9-4A game.
Albanie Fussell tallied three hits, an RBI and a run scored.
Ashlyn Welch posted three hits that included a triple, an RBI and two runs scored.
Schexnider singled twice, scored two runs and drove in a run.
Bailey Brooks singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored a run.
Aleigha Fussell had two hits, a run batted in and a run scored.
Fowler doubled, drove in two runs and scored a run.
Skylar Branch tallied a double with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Varnado posted a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.
Isabella Causey singled.
Smith scored a run.
Aleigha Fussell and Schexnider combined on the win. Fussell went two innings, allowing no runs on one hit with two strikeouts and no walks. Schexnider threw three innings of no-hit, no-run ball with two walks.
