Demons go 3-0 in Ponchatoula Tournament
Franklinton’s Demons won all three games in the Ponchatoula Tournament that took place Thursday through Saturday.
Franklinton began the tournament with a 13-3 victory over Jewel Sumner.
Will Turner had a huge game, driving in six runs in a 3-for-5 performance with a double and two runs scored.
Jordan McKenzie singled and scored three runs.
Chase Penton singled and scored two runs.
Rickey Burkhalter posted a hit and an RBI.
Micah Wascom scored three runs, while Daylin Sigler, Trayshun Warren and Isaac Wascom tallied a run each.
Winning pitcher Isaac Wascom allowed a run on five hits with eight strikeouts and no walks over four innings.
The next day’s game was a 4-2 win over Ponchatoula in 10 innings.
Penton began the 10th with a double. After Micah Wascom walked, McKenzie put down a bunt, but a throwing error allowed two runs to score.
Penton went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Micah Wascom singled and scored a run.
McKenzie singled and drove in two runs.
Isaac Wascom scored two runs.
Turner was the winning pitcher in relief, going 5-2/3 innings of shutout ball. He allowed four hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
Franklinton completed the tournament with a 10-2 victory over Albany on Saturday.
Turner singled twice, scored a run and drove in two.
McKenzie singled, scored two runs and drove in a run.
Micah Wascom, Burkhalter and Warren all tallied a hit and a run.
Isaac Wascom singled.
Penton and Nate Parden scored two runs each.
McKenzie was the winning pitcher, going 6-1/3 innings allowing two runs on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
Franklinton’s next game will take place Thursday in the Washington Parish Tournament.
