Franklinton’s Magee records 2nd place in Abbeville Meet

Franklinton’s Jaylin Magee was second in the 181-pound weight class at the Abbeville RAW Invitational that took place on Feb. 13.

Magee had a total of 1,105 pounds with a 395 squat, 235 bench and a 475 deadlift. St. Louis Catholic’s Cody Lebato won at 1,150.

Franklinton was the only local team in this meet.

Adam Galloway was third in the 275s after posting a 1,015 total. Galloway squatted 350, benched 285 and deadlifted 380. North DeSoto’s Jackson Gibson won with a 1,185.

Shelton Jenkins was fourth for the 198s and Collin Penny took 10th. Jenkins squatted 405, benched 280 and dead lifted 475 for 1,160. Penny posted a 330 squat, 220 bench and 335 deadlift for 865. St. Louis Catholic’s Connor Mills, Southside’s Peyton Robert and Erath’s Phillip Savoie all tied for first with 1,190. The tiebreaker is least body weight, so Mills was first, Robert second and Savoie third.

James Slade took fifth at 1,000 in the 242s with a 325 squat, 215 bench and 460 deadlift. Natchitoches Central’s James Jackson won at 1,315.

Kaden Boone was eighth in the SHW. He had a 400 with a 60 squat, 140 bench and 200 deadlift. North DeSoto’s Gary Kappleman won at 1,335.

Ryan Barber tallied a 17th in the 165s with a 465. He squatted 155, benched 100 and deadlifted 210. Southside’s Cedrick Mcdonald won with 1,195. Franklinton’s Andre Callais benched 205 and deadlifted 300.

Nate Lebo, who is in the 148s, benched 90 and deadlift 255. North DeSoto’s John Lewis won with a 925.

Franklinton will be back in action at regionals that take place on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Pope John Paul II.
