Bowling Green School’s Buccaneers were victorious in the District 4-3A Tournament.

“It is always a special moment, an honor to win your conference championship,” Bowling Green School coach Pat King said. “This is an accomplishment that any team would be proud of, and our team is well deserving of this honor. At the same time our guys also know there is more to play for and we are humbled and excited for the opportunity to play on. I’m  extremely proud of our guys for their fight, energy, love for one another, and how they represent our school and program! As we talk about daily, we give God all the glory and we desire to play in a way that brings Him all the honor and praise! We love one another, because He first loved us! (1 John 4:19)”

Bowling Green needed to win two games to capture last week’s seven-team tournament at Bowling Green.

The Bucs’ first game was an 84-48 victory over Wayne Academy.

Dalton Crain led the Buccaneers with 19 points.

John Downey posted 11.

Triston Jones, Javon Bickham, Nathan Jenkins all tallied 10.

That put the Buccaneers in the championship game that took place on Saturday against Lamar Christian School.

Bowling Green topped Lamar Christian School, 50-46, for the title.

Rece Dillon topped Bowling Green with 19 points.

Dalton Crain recorded 15 points.

The top four teams are headed to the South 3A Basketball Tournament that began yesterday and continues today and Friday and Saturday.

Bowling Green plays against Canton Academy tomorrow at 7 p.m.

The winner goes against either Tri-County Academy or Columbia Academy. That game was played yesterday after press time.

The top four teams move to the Class 3A Tournament.
