Varnado tallies 1-1 record in recent games

Varnado’s Wildcats split their last two games, while Pine’s Raiders were defeated in their last two contests.

On Tuesday, Varnado was defeated by Amite, 72-57, on the road.

Quanta Peters and Caluntay Jackson tied to lead Varnado in scoring with 12 points. Peters had three assists, two steals and three rebounds. Jackson grabbed four rebounds and blocked two shots.

Miguel Fland was close to a triple-double and he filled up the statsheet, going for 11 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, four steals and a blocked shot.

Jaheim Hooks posted nine points and made four steals.

Varnado defeated Pine, 52-39, at home the next day.

Jackson was just a point and a rebound from a double-double. He scored nine points and pulled down nine boards and he blocked a shot.

Elizah Miller posted eight points, 10 boards, a steal and two assists.

ZyQuantay Bickham recorded eight points, five rebounds and a blocked shot.

Luke Spears posted 13 points to top Pine. He made a 3-pointer.

Clint Miley recorded 11 that included two 3-pointers.

Will Hollywood tallied eight points.

John Eric Self had five.

Demill Garrett posted two points.

Pine’s game on Tuesday was a 58-45 loss to St. Helena College and Career Academy on the road.

Self tallied 17 points to lead Pine. He made five 3-pointers.

Spears posted 15.

Hollywood recorded six.

Miley had three. He made a 3-pointer.

Kendall Fountain put up two points.

Garrett and Braeden Arceneaux recorded a point each.

All games were in District 9-2A play.

Varnado will be back in action on Tuesday against Independence at home.

Pine’s next game will take place on Monday at home against Franklinton.
