Varnado’s Lady Cats were defeated by St. Helena College and Career Academy and Independence in District 9-2A games that took place on Jan. 19 and on Friday.

The game on Jan. 19 against St. Helena College and Career Academy was 63-40 at home.

Myeasha Peters led Varnado, going for 25 points. Peters made three 3-pointers.

Kasia McGowan tallied five points that included a 3-pointer.

Tanisha Brister and Jayla Peters had four each.

Jelisa Jackson posted three.

Friday’s game was a 47-19 loss to Independence on the road.

Brister topped the Lady Cats with eight points. She made a 3-pointer.

Peters tallied six points.

Myeshawn Fox had four.

McGowan posted one.

Varnado’s next game will take place on Friday against Pine on the road.
