Paul Mitchell Boone passed away at his residence in Bogalusa on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, at the age of 84. He was born in Sandy Hook, Miss., on July 10, 1936.

He retired from GM&O Railroad after 30 years and Rayburn Correctional Institute after 20 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Sharon “Shey” Boone of Bogalusa, Paula Gaye (Mike) Boone of Bogalusa, and Deona Boone Pittman of Bogalusa; his grandchildren, Krystal Boone Oalmann, Jonathan Pittman and Jessica Pittman; and his great-granddaughter, Sheylah Oalmann.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Duncan Boone; parents, Homer and Ollie Boone; his son, Frederick Lee Boone; and son-in-law, Albert Boone Jr.

Services celebrating his life will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home and Crematory on Sunday, Nov. 22. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until the funeral service begins at 2 p.m. The Rev. Larry Lassley will officiate. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.

Military honors will be presented by Magic City American Legion Post #24.
