Pine’s Raiders take to the road and open District 9-2A play on Friday with a road game against St. Helena College and Career Academy at 7 p.m.

“It’s the district opener of a very competitive district,” Pine coach Bradley Seal said. “I kind of feel like St. Helena might be the most talented team we’ll play in district this year.”

Every game for Pine is a district contest through the end of the regular season.

Pine is 1-2 this year after defeating Northlake Christian School, 28-7, last week.

Last week, Pine ran for 380 yards as a team, led by Audrelique Dural and Adrianuen Johnson.

Dural ran for 172 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns.

Johnson tallied 170 yards on 15 attempts and a touchdown.

Brandon Sprehe had a rushing touchdown.

Defensively, Anterrius Walker intercepted two passes.

Pine won last year’s game, 27-19.

St. Helena College and Career Academy begins the week with a 1-2 record.

Like Pine, St. Helena got its first win last week, which was against Livonia, 32-12.

This week begins a run of three straight road games for Pine.

The next two games are against Independence and Kentwood.

They will be held Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 respectively.
