Franklinton is back in action on Friday when the Demons celebrate Homecoming with a contest against Jewel Sumner.
“After the start to the season, I kind of want to put the first two weeks behind us,” Franklinton coach Jonathan Barber said. “We played last Wednesday and I gave our players four days off to refresh. We still have all of our goals in front of us with Jewel Sumner this week and we look forward to the opportunity to compete.”
The Demons enter this week with an 0-2 record after a 59-16 loss to New Iberia.
“We started flat last week. We got down 20-0 for the second game in a row. We’ve gotta start talking about it and making it happen — starting faster,” Barber said.
Barber said the team is getting players healthy and Barber feels they will have a more healthy version of themselves and hopes that translates into on field success.
In last week’s game, Zion Anders had 219 yards passing with two touchdowns and an interception on 13-of-19 passing. He also ran three times for 20 yards.
Kadarious Mark led the receivers with five catches for 116 yards and a touchdown.
Caleb Brown made four catches for 84 yards and a score.
Glen Mark tallied a catch for 12 yards.
De’Airreous Magee had a pair of two-point conversion runs.
Franklinton won last year’s game 62-27.
Jewel Sumner comes into this week with a 2-0 record.
The Cowboys defeated St. Michael the Archangel, 34-21, last week.
Following this week, the Franklinton Demons are heading to Belle Chasse for their week four game on Oct. 22.
