Pine High School’s Braeden Johnson
Pine’s Braeden Johnson is a two-sport athlete for the Raiders. The senior plays football and is a member of the Raiders’ track/field team.
Johnson is an offensive and defensive lineman in football.
In track/field, he throws the shot put and discus in track/field.
Last season, Johnson was an all-district honorable-mention player in football.
“Good leader for us,” Pine football and track/field coach Bradley Seal said. “Second Year starter on the offensive line. Great kid, who has a good future in the military.”
What do you enjoy most about playing your sports?
My favorite thing when it comes down to football is the brotherhood. In the locker room, you’re a family. We all have one objective that we’re fighting for and we’re all out there for the same thing.
What do you like best about being a student athlete?
I think it’s kind of the same bonding. In-and-out of school, having to put forth effort and work and accomplish things in life, it kind of shows the bigger picture of having to work both at school and in football.
Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
My junior high coach at Pine Junior High Billy Gerald and Pine coach Bradley Seal.
I’m originally from South Carolina and when I moved down here, it was kind of rough changing with the atmosphere and I wasn’t really willing to stick with it, but (Gerald) really pushed me, encouraged me and helped me. When I went to high school, it felt like I was back at square one. Coach Bradley really helped me and I feel like he brings the team together. He really hypes up the team and brings everybody together.
Favorite team?
Florida Gators.
Best thing about living in Washington Parish?
One of my favorite things about Washington Parish is that it’s the small-town community and the community comes out and backs the team.
