Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Sam Peters
Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Sam Peters is a three-sport athlete.
The senior plays football, basketball and competes in track/field.
Peters is in his first year of playing football and plays quarterback and defensive end. He plays center in basketball. In track/field, Peters runs all four relays, the 4×100, 4×200, 4×400 and 4×800. He also long jumps and triple jumps. Last year was Peters’ first year in track/field, but his season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Sam, he’s a first-year player for us,” Ben’s Ford Christian School football coach Destin Pittman said. “Super hard worker. He’s one of those kids that is going to come early and stay late. He’s going to give you 110 percent on every snap. I wish I had him for a few more years. He’s never going to cause problems.”
What do you enjoy most about playing your sports?
I enjoy just getting to play the game of football with my friends and trying to get a win every Friday night.
What do you like best about being a student athlete?
I like the challenge of keeping my grades and my game at a high level.
Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
My papa Clyde Swilley, who recently passed away. He always told me I needed to play football and basketball because I was always athletic. I finally listened to him and it has paid off. I play every Friday night for him.
Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
Joe Burrow, just seeing how he transformed LSU into a National Championship. I try to model my game after him.
Favorite team?
LSU Tigers.
Best thing about Washington Parish?
I love the town. Most of my family lives here and I enjoy going to school here.
