Bowling Green School opens the regular season on Friday by taking on Cathedral Unit School at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit, Miss.
This is a home game for Bowling Green. The Buccaneers are playing their home games at Southwest Mississippi Community College until the state is in phase three.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
Bowling Green went officially 1-7 last season.
Cathedral Unit School posted a 7-3 mark in 2019, but lost to Class 4A semifinalist Wayne Academy, 26-14, in the second round of the playoffs.
“Cathedral is a good team,” Bowling Green coach Riley Boudreaux said. “They’re big, fast. We’ve got to make sure we play good. They’ve got a lot of seniors and they’re a good team. We’ve got to play good to make sure we stay in the game.”
When asked the key to the game, Boudreaux said, “We’ve got to tackle.”
Bowling Green played in a scrimmage against Adams County Christian School on Aug. 7.
During the timed portion, Jonathan Savarese connected with Javon Bickham on a 70-yard touchdown.
Also in the scrimmage, Savarese threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Dalton Crain.
Defensively, Crain picked off a pass and Jacob Dobraska posted a fumble recovery.
After this week, Bowling Green heads to Centreville Academy on Aug. 28.
