Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal is asking for the public’s help to identify burglars who struck a business on West 10th Street on Tuesday night and again early Wednesday morning.

At approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday, two males used a key to open the drink machine located outside the store, then left the machine unlocked, according to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Haley said the thieves were unable to remove or open the coin container, but still stole several drinks. Surveillance video identified the getaway vehicle as a Ford F150 pickup truck with damage on the driver’s side front quarter panel.

At approximately 4 a.m. the following morning, additional people returned to the store, opened the machine with a key, and stole additional soft drinks, Haley said. It is suspected that the original thieves told others of the unlocked machine and they, in turn, went to the store to take more drinks.

Any person with information about this crime is asked to call Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Det. Damon Mitchell at 985-839-344, extension 2008. Callers may remain anonymous.

“Help us identify these thieves,” Seal said. “They are certain to strike again and the next victim may be you.”
