Carolyn Rebecca Warner Harwood died suddenly at work at Warner’s Fish House on Feb. 20, 2020.

The youngest child of George and Ruth Hughes Warner, Carolyn was born April 6, 1955. A Bogalusa native, she grew up in the Plainview community.

She is survived by her son, Richard Earl “Ricky” Harwood Jr.; siblings, Jena Corkern, Gary Warner and Vickie Phillips; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews and many special aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers and friends.

Carolyn was fiercely independent, but possessed a true servant’s heart. Those attributes led her on an unconventional path following her heart across a variety of careers wherever she felt she was “supposed to be” and most needed.

She succeeded at a variety of professional careers working in chemical plants and tech jobs across South Louisiana and Georgia. About 30 years ago when she wanted her child to grow up near his family and she felt she was needed here, she moved back to Bogalusa.

At Warner’s Fish House, first for her mother and now for her sister, Jena Warner Corkern, she put her great organizational skills and enthusiasm to work doing prep during the week and running the window and phone as “Head of Customer Service” every weekend.

Two generations of kids in our family who have been doted on by Carolyn know her only as “Care-Care.” More than just a family nickname “Care-Care” says everything about Carolyn — a tender, caring spirit. Her whole life was lived giving everything she had caring and caring for all of us.

As per her wishes, Carolyn will be cremated and her family hopes to soon have a beautiful spring day to gather in her memory.
