Lily Belle Fletcher Matheny passed away at Resthaven Living Center in Bogalusa on Dec. 24, 2019, at the age of 94. She was born in Buchanan County, Va., on March 23, 1925.

Mrs. Lily was a long time resident of Bogalusa, where she was a faithful member of ESM Methodist Church and longtime member of United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Alders Gate Sunday school class.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Mullings of Bogalusa; her granddaughter, Allison M. (Jay) Brignac of St. Amant; and her great-granddaughter, Chloe Brignac.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, William R. “Bill” Matheny; her son-in-law, Charles Mullings Jr.; and her eight siblings.

Services celebrating her life were held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Friday, Dec. 27, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, until the funeral service begins at 10 a.m. The Rev. James Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
