“Butch” Ernest Joseph Miller, a native and lifelong resident of Bogalusa, LA died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his family at the age of 71. He served his country in the U.S. Army for over 20 years. He also retired from the Louisiana Veterans Affairs Office after 16 years of service.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 48 and a half years, Cathy Miller of Bogalusa; two daughters, Christina Miller of Bogalusa, and Angela Miller Crochet of Pensacola, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Tyler (Leticia Pollard) Rester of Bogalusa, Timothy Mitchell Rester of Bogalusa, Elizabeth Miller of Bogalusa, Jasmine Crochet of Pensacola, Fla., Aurora Crochet of Pensacola, Joe Phelps of Franklinton, Zack Bennett of Bogalusa, and Brittney Ard of Bogalusa; one great-grandchild, Arizona Marie Rester of Bogalusa; and one sister, Janice Lee (Taswell) Brown of Newport News, Va. He was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Chip Ernest Joseph Miller Jr.; parents, Ernest and Pearlie Miller; and stepfather, Woodrow Warner.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Pete Bennett. Interment will follow in the Garden of Peace Cemetery.

Military honors will be presented by Magic City American Legion Post #24.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday, Jan. 4, in the morning from 10 a.m. until the service time at 2 p.m.
