Bogalusa, Franklinton competed in Lakeshore Tournament

MANDEVILLE — Franklinton and Bogalusa competed in the Lakeshore Titans Thanksgiving Shootout 2019 that took place Thanksgiving week from Monday through Wednesday.
Franklinton won one of its three games while Bogalusa was not able to win any of its three.
Franklinton was defeated in its opener on Monday, 70-21, by Northshore, which went 3-0 in the event.
Cornelius Laurant and Corinthious Dickerson scored five points each to top the Demons. Laurant made a 3-pointer.
De-Airreous Magee posted three and Cameron Stewart, Javan Hart, Jaheim Jefferson and Avant Monnie all had two. Magee and Dickerson both hit a 3-pointer.
Franklinton was victorious in its next contest, 65-8, over Ridgewood the following day.
Stewart topped the Demons’ balanced scoring attack with 12 points as 10 players tallied points for Franklinton.
Laurant posted 10, which included a pair of 3-pointers.
Monnie tallied nine points, while Tradell Causey had eight, Magee and Kendarious Brumfield logged six each, Stacy Ard totaled five, Jakob McKormick had four and Wyatt Lambert added two in the victory. Monnie, Ard and Dickerson all made a 3-pointer.
The final game was a 79-49 loss last Wednesday to 4-1 Chalmette, who also went 3-0 in the tournament.
Franklinton trailed 6-0 early and was down 16-9 after one quarter.
The Demons were down by as many as 15 in the first half at 34-19, but Jefferson nailed a 3-pointer with two seconds left, closing the gap to 34-22 at the break.
Chalmette broke the game open just over three minutes into the third quarter. Leading 40-25, the Owls ran off six in a row to go up 46-25 with 4:52 left in the third. It was 58-37 after three quarters.
Monnie was Franklinton’s leading scorer with 16 points, which included four 3-pointers.
Stewart also made four 3-pointers in a 14-point game.
Jefferson posted eight points, while Laurant had seven and McKormick added two for Franklinton. Jefferson made a pair of 3-pointers, while Laurant had one.
Bogalusa was defeated by Lakeshore, Chalmette and Northshore. All three teams were undefeated in the event. Chalmette and Northshore were 3-0, while Lakeshore was 2-0.
The Lumberjacks lost to Northshore, 76-55, in their first game of the tournament last Monday.
Javon Bickham led Bogalusa with 18 points that included a 3-pointer.
Chance Turner posted 10 and he made a pair of 3-pointers.
Demarcus Spikes tallied six points, while Josh Taylor and Tony Harris had five each, Raheem Roberts posted four, Quientay Henry logged three and Shadwick Gamble and Karry Conerly added two each. Henry and Taylor made a 3-pointer each.
The Lumberjacks were topped by Chalmette the next day, 62-49.
Taylor scored 13 points to lead Bogalusa. He made three 3-pointers.
Bickham tallied 10.
Conerly had eight points, while Spikes and Henry logged five each, Roberts posted four and Turner and Gamble added two each. Henry made a 3-pointer.
Bogalusa’s final tournament game was a 91-64 loss to Northshore.
The Lumberjacks got off to a tough start and trailed 14-4 with 2:47 left in the first quarter. It was 17-8 through one quarter.
Northshore opened the lead in the second. Up 25-13 with 5:21 left in the first half, Northshore went on a 10-2 run to take a 35-15 lead at the 3:55 mark.
Bogalusa pulled within 35-19 and Northshore went took a 51-24 lead to the break.
Northshore extended the lead in the third quarter and led 70-46 through three.
Henry led Bogalusa with 17 points.
Bickham had 11, which included a 3-pointer. Turner posted 10.
Taylor recorded eight points, while Conerly tallied six, Spikes and Harris had four each and Sincere Craft and Jahee Roberts added two each. Taylor made a 3-pointer.
