Mr. Virgil Mondy was the third born child of Floretta Brown-Mondy and Terman Mondy on Dec. 1, 1926. He was called home by the Angel of the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019.

Mr. Virgil Mondy was a faithful member of Wesley Ray United Methodist Church and attended until his health failed.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife of 45 years, Mrs. Olevia Speights Mondy.

Mr. Virgil Mondy is the father of six children: Yvonne Mondy-Johnson of Slidell, Vergie Lee Mondy-Brooks of Virginia, Treanders Mondy (deceased), Victor Peters of Varnado, Cassandra Lewis of Varnado, and Sylvia Garrett of Angie.

His siblings are Bessie Mondy-Lee of San Leando, Calif., Luella Mondy-Jackson of Angie, Herman (Ida Mae) Mondy of Oakland, Calif., Leonard Mondy of Angie, Otha Mondy (deceased), Oliver Mondy (deceased), Freddie Will Mondy (deceased), Hattie Mondy-Foster (deceased), Velma Mondy-Nichols (deceased), Gracie Mondy-Foster (deceased), Roxie Mondy-Roberts (deceased), and Rachel Mondy (deceased).

His grandchildren are: John Roderic Hatcher, DeShanan Hatcher-Nelson, Naisha Johnson, Ahmad Brooks, Perry Brooks Jr., Krsunthia Brooks-Childs (deceased), Lauren Mondy, Joe (Jeanneth) Lewis Jr., Ernest Quenzell (Amy) Spikes, Aaron (Tracy) Lewis, Erica (Willis) Yarbrough, Victoria Peters, and Victor Jerod Peters.

Mr. Virgil Mondy was a World War II Veteran, a pillar of the Angie community, and a loving family man. He will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends, including his special sister-in-law, Louise (Ellis) Burrell.

Visitation will be held at Cook Richmond & Son Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 2, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Mr. Virgil Mondy’s funeral service will be held at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m.
