Pine has reached the second round of the Class 2A state playoffs and will be at home Friday night hosting Avoyelles.
Seventh-seeded Pine has an 8-3 record, which includes last week’s 54-29 victory over No. 26 Port Barre in the first round.
Pine has won seven of its last eight games.
No. 10 Avoyelles begins the week with a 7-3 record that includes its 32-14 victory over 23rd-seeded St. Helena College and Career Academy. Avoyelles is 3-1 over its last four games.
“Avoyelles definitely has a unique style. I’ve never coached against somebody or played against somebody with this style of offense,” Pine coach Bradley Seal said.
Seal said that Avoyelles never throws, they never punt and onside kick every time. Seal said that 2.5 yards is a good play for them.
The winner of Friday’s game will play either second-seeded and 2018 Class 2A state semifinalist Many (8-3) or No. 15 East Feliciana (6-4).
Last week, Pine recorded more than 500 yards of total offense. The Raiders had 391 yards rushing and 112 yards passing.
Adrianuen Johnson led the ground attack 186 yards and a touchdown.

Ricardo Handy had two while Johnson, Jaheim Williams and Logan Temples posted one each.

Pine also scored twice on special teams. They were Pine’s first and final touchdowns.
Nikki Lee returned a kickoff 65 yards that tied the game and Johnson brought back a punt 47 yards.
Defensively, Pine forced a turnover when Aurdrlique Dural recorded a sack and forced a fumble that Jon’Kez Dillon recovered.
Drake Westmoreland led the Raiders with 10 tackles last week.
