Varnado loses to First Baptist

SLIDELL — Varnado lost both matches of a doubleheader against First Baptist Christian School in District 7-V action on the road Tuesday, 25-3, 25-7, 25-5 and 25-4, 25-5, 25-9.
Varnado trailed 7-0 in the opener, as Brittan Dukes recorded four aces during the run.
After Varnado got on the board, First Baptist tallied 13 in a row to take a 20-1 lead before going on for the 25-3 victory.
First Baptist scored the first two points of the second game, but Varnado broke the serve and then Sarah Newcomb tied the game with an ace.
The Lady Eagles broke the serve to start an 8-0 run to make it 10-2. During the run, Emma Snider had five aces.
Following the run, First Baptist Christian School did not have a big run, but went on to the 25-7 victory.
First Baptist tallied opened the third game with the first six points, as Sydney Stewart posted two aces.
Varnado’s JaMonica Dillon tallied a point and then Varnado scored again to make it 6-2.
First Baptist Christian School then scored six in a row to go up 12-2 before going on to the 25-5 win.
Varnado was defeated in the second match of the doubleheader, 25-4, 25-5, 25-9.
On Monday, Varnado lost to Franklinton, 25-6, 25-4, 25-9, in non-district action at home.
Varnado has one regular season match left. It will take place on Monday against Franklinton on the road.
