Bowling Green School’s Allie McCain
Bowling Green School’s Allie McCain is a basketball player and dances for the Lady Buccaneers. The senior is a shooting guard and sometimes plays in the post. Last year, McCain was a first-team all-district player.
“She’ll be probably a third-year starter for me this year,” Bowling Green School girls basketball coach Barry Seal said. “She’s really come a long ways from the 10th grade when we started this, I’d say this rebuilding type process of Bowling Green basketball, to now. Works hard, give me everything she’s got when she’s in practice and on the court. Just a committed person to Bowling Green basketball.”
What do you enjoy most about playing your sports?
I think taking on the role of leadership and being able to lead the team. Being one of the oldest, it’s one of my favorite things. I like the friendships, the different types of people being brought together.
What do you like best about being a student athlete?
You have to put in hard work and I think that’s kind of a major thing that prepares you for life. You’re kind of different than everybody else in school, you get to go places, be a part of something that not everybody is part of, it’s so special.
Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
Probably my mom (Kay McCain). She always encourages me when I’m in the worst spot I can be to just push through it. She’s just a mom, tells you the right things, let’s you know that you’re good no matter what anybody else is saying about you.
Favorite team?
LSU Tigers.
Best thing about living in Washington Parish?
The small town definitely and knowing everybody, doing small things with a small group of friends.
