The Ben’s Ford Christian School Eagles hosted the Kemper Academy Rams in their final game of the 2019 regular season, losing 50-14.
The Rams took an early lead in Friday’s game. Their first touchdown came just 30 seconds into the game with a handoff from quarterback Matthew Cordar to River Keaton from their own 47-yard line. Cordar succeeded in a two-point conversion attempted with a handoff to Garron Dickson to make the score at 8-0.
Kemper got on the board again with a minute left in the first quarter when Cordar handed off to Dickson from the Eagles’ 25-yard line. The Rams failed the two-point attempt and the score moved to 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The Eagles opened the second quarter with a touchdown of their own. From the Rams’ 10, Eagles’ quarterback Daniel Martin handed off to Austin Stogner, who pushed the Rams’ defense into the endzone. Martin handed off to Payton Miller for the conversion and brought the score to 14-8.
The Rams put three more touchdowns on the board during the first half. The first was a 45-yard run by Keaton. Cordar kept the ball for the two-point conversation, which put the score at 22-8. Later, a handoff by Cordar to Dickson from the Eagles’ 37 put the score at 28-8 after the Rams failed the conversion. With 11 seconds left in the half, Cordar handed off to Dickson again from the Eagles’ 19, and following a missed two-point conversion attempt, the score was 34-8 at the half.
The third quarter opened and the Eagles put their second and final touchdown of the game on the board. At the Rams’ 32, Martin broke the play and switched to a quarterback keeper for the touchdown. Martin attempted the two-point conversion with a handoff to Miller and the Rams’ defense held him back as the score moved to 34-14.
The Rams answered back with two touchdowns of their own. With a minute left in the third quarter and the ball at the 11, Cordar handed off to Dickson who then reversed to Dylan Dawson. The double sneak worked and Dawson broke through the Eagles’ line. Cordar failed in his two-point attempt and the score went to 42-14. At the start of the fourth, Cordar again handed off to Dickson from the 31. Dickson pushed through and put the last touchdown of the game on the board. Martin passed to Dawson for the two-point conversion, which set the final score at 50-14.
