Varnado’s Wildcats were defeated by Kentwood, 40-24, in a District 9-2A contest on the road Thursday.
Kentwood captured the Class 1A state title last year and this was the second-straight week the Wildcats faced a 2018 state champion. Last Friday, Varnado faced defending Class 2A champion Amite.
Varnado fell to 2-5 overall this season and 0-2 in league play. The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday with a district road game against St. Helena College and Career Academy.
