Franklinton’s Demons were defeated by St. Charles, 35-6, in a home game held Thursday.
“We didn’t play well. They’re a good football team. They exposed us in a few areas. We’ve got a few things to clean up,” Franklinton coach Jonathan Barber said.
The Demons got off to a tough start. They began the game with the ball at their 6 and punted. St. Charles took over at Franklinton’s 15 and scored.
St. Charles led 14-0 at halftime. The other touchdown was on a 70-yard drive.
“We had three bad plays defensively in the first half,” Barber said. “One was an option for about 8 yards, one was a pass play for about 40 and the other was a power read for about 20 yards. Other than that, we played well in the first half defensively.”
Defensively for Franklinton, Spencer Lambert recovered a fumble on a muffed punt and Jacob Turnage posted a sack.
Franklinton had 78 yards of total offense. They had 30 passing and 48 rushing.
Bryan Williams led the Demons in rushing with 27 yards and a touchdown.
Jasper LaSalle threw for 19 yards and two interceptions.
Corinthious Dickerson posted 11 yards passing.
Caleb Brown led the receivers with two catches for 16 yards.
Franklinton fell to 4-3 this season. The Demons will open District 9-4A play on Friday with a road game against Lakeshore. Lakeshore was 6-0 entering Friday’s game against Westgate.
