Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Varnado High School’s JaMonica Dillon

Varnado’s JaMonica Dillon is a four-sport athlete. The senior plays volleyball, basketball, softball and she competes in track/field.
In volleyball, Dillon plays all over. In basketball, she is a point guard. Last year, she ran the on 4×200 relay team and she ran the 100-meter dash. For softball, Dillon is an outfielder.
Dillon has reached the regionals in track.
“JaMonica is a hustler. She is going to run all over that court to get that volleyball,” Varnado volleyball coach Michelle Reynolds said. “She’s going to tell her teammates, encourage her teammates — she is a leader on that court for me — and she is a great team player and encourager. I look for her to be that way in her life after graduation.”

What do you enjoy most about playing your sports?
I enjoy the rush, the thrill and the crowd. I like the cheering.

What do you like best about being a student-athlete?
I like the fact that I can keep my grades up and still practice hard everyday. I can practice five days like out of the whole week and still come home with straight A’s.

Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
My mother (Arlisa Dillon) because even though she can’t make it all of the games, she’ll still tell me to do my best. She’ll come before the game or after it to boost my head up even after a loss.

Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
I would say me. I don’t really look up to anybody, but myself.

Favorite team?
Varnado Wildcats.

Best thing about living in Washington Parish?
The people.
