Pine Junior High captures parish title

Pine Junior High School is the Washington Parish Schools Champion.
Pine won the championship with a 26-0 victory over Franklinton Junior High on Tuesday at Franklinton High School.
Pine led 14-0 at halftime.
“I was really happy with how hard our guys played we had a game plan and they stuck to it,” Pine coach Blake Dillon said. “We make goals at the beginning of every season and it’s an unbelievable feeling when the players and coaches work hard from day one until the final play, to be able to feel the gratification of hard work paying off and winning a parish championship.”
In Tuesday’s game, Luke Spears threw for 124 yards on 7-of-10 passing. He also ran three times for 25 yards.
Ethan Rester ran 12 times for 85 yards with a touchdown and a two-point conversion. He also led the team in tackles with six stops.
Preston Stogner caught three passes for 78 yards and score to go with a run for six yards.
James Owens made two receptions for 32 yards and he rushed twice for 26 yards.
Ethan Ryals recorded two catches for 26 yards and a score. He also had two tackles defensively.
Preston Stogner and Tremichael Magee made 3.5 tackles each.
Cal Temples made 1.5 stops.
Zachary Thomas posted 1.5 stops and a sack.
Aiden McIntosh, Caden Schogel, Brady Polk and James Owens all had one stop.
This is the second year they have had this league. Varnado won the title last year.
Pine caps off a 6-2 season, which includes Tuesday’s win.
