Bogalusa captures season opener

Bogalusa was victorious over Istrouma, 26-13, in its season opener on the road Friday night.
“It always feels good to go out and get that first win. I’m proud of our kids,” Bogalusa coach Adam Brumfield said. “It was a long trip and we played up in class, so it’s a big win for us and will give us a bunch of power points going forward.”
Bogalusa led 14-6 at halftime and 14-13 through three quarters.
Raheem Roberts had an interception return for a touchdown to seal the win. Roberts also caught two passes for 20 yards.
Josh Taylor completed seven of his nine passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. He also led the Lumberjacks in rushing, with 67 yards on 14 carries.
Talik Williams ran eight times for 40 yards and two touchdowns. Williams also made a catch for 14 yards. Defensively, he made six solo tackles with two assists, a sack and a tackle for a loss.
LaDarrius Spikes had 44 yards on 15 carries.
Tajdryn Forbes recorded two receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown.
Tyrese Roussell caught two passes for 35 yards. Roussell made three solo tackles with two assists, one for a loss and he recovered a fumble.
The defense allowed 215 yards from scrimmage. Istrouma threw for 99 and ran for 116.
Bogalusa will be back in action on Friday when the Lumberjacks host Pine. Pine was defeated in its opener against Jewel Sumner, 41-20.
