Bogalusa Little League Fun Day, Players Recognition

The Bogalusa Little League Baseball 2019 Fun Day and Players Recognition takes place on Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Avenue U ballpark.

The event is from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Team pictures will be taken.

Other activities include inflatables, games, food, drinks and prizes.

Each team and coaches will be recognized and awards will be presented.

The Bogalusa Little League thanks league members, coaches, players and parents for their support and efforts to make the 2019 Bogalusa Little League Fun Day a success.

The Bogalusa Little League 2018-19 Board of Directors includes president Quovatas Turner and vice president Kelvin May.

 

Bogalusa Blues & Heritage Festival 5K run/walk race

The 2019 Bogalusa Blues & Heritage Festival race will take place Saturday, Sept. 28, in Cassidy Park.

The competition begins at 8 a.m.

Early registration, which takes place before Sept. 1, is $20.

Signups are $25 starting on Sept. 1.

The deadline to receive a T-shirt is Sept. 7.

Raceday registration is from 7 a.m. until 7:45 a.m.

Tru Archery Team holding annual raffle

The TRU Archery Team, which is based out of Franklinton, is holding its annual raffle.

Tickets are a $2 donation.

The group is drawing for three prizes.

First place is two tickets to the LSU game against Arkansas that takes place Saturday, Nov. 23 at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.

Second place is a Kyseck 25 quart ice chest.

Third place is a Covert Blackout Game Camera.

The raffle takes place on Saturday, Oct. 19 and the winner does not need to be present.

State parks adjust pool schedules for end of summer

The Louisiana Office of State Parks is adjusting the swimming pool schedules for the end of summer to ensure that certified lifeguards are present during pool operating hours. All pools will close for the season after Labor Day.

State parks with water playgrounds, which includes Bogue Chitto in Franklinton, is open Tuesdays through Sundays through Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

State parks with designated beach swimming areas that includes Bogue Chitto, is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, but do not have lifeguard supervision.

Standard day-use admission is $3 per person and provides beach, pool, and water playground access.
