Racing teams compete on Bogue Chitto

Canoe racers from local venture crews completed the Bogue Chitto Race last Saturday in Sun.
The three-day, 110-mile race ran from Thursday, July 18 and ended Saturday. It went from the Mississippi Highway 98 Bridge and ended at Lock No. 3 in Sun.
Bogalusa Venture Crew 313 Boys Novice group were victorious in their racing division in 15 hours, 3 minutes, 58 seconds.
The team included Nathan Keen, Tyler Breland, Ethan Boyet and Micah Wascom.
In the Boys’ Advance Racing Division, Venture Crew ‘B’ team captured the event in 11:39.10 by 10 minutes over the ‘A’ team. The ‘A’ team’s time was 11:49.10.
The ‘B’ team featured Chris Weintritt, Josh Gulczynski, Carter Wascom and Isaac Wascom.
The ‘A’ team had Jayden Lewis, Zachary Kirkland, Rex Perrette and Rory Breland.
The Bush Crew 213 Girls’ Beginner Racing Division Team won their competition. The group had a time of 7:15.18. That racing division went one leg per day. The team included Ella King and Tori Palmer.
The crews are competing in the White Water Canoe Race that began Thursday and ends on Saturday, July 27.
