Bowling Green School’s Lady Buccaneers are just three days away from opening the 2019 season.
Bowling Green begins the season on Saturday at the Simpson Academy Tournament.
“We’re ready to get going,” Bowling Green coach David Hood Burris said. “There’s high expectations, not just from us, but we’re probably expected to win the conference and make a run in the playoffs since we’re bringing back so many starters. We’re going to have experience and we’re going to be deep and we’re looking to make a run at winning the state title.”
Bowling Green has eight starters coming back.
Last year, the Lady Buccaneers captured the District 4AAA title and then won the Class AAA South State Tournament. Bowling Green reached the Class AAA Tournament, but came up a win short of reaching the finals in an 8-2 loss to Leake Academy. Leake Academy captured the Class AAA Championship.
Bowling Green has a busy first week of games.
Following the Simpson Academy Tournament, the Lady Bucs travel to Parklane Academy on Monday before playing their home opener against Silliman Institute.
The junior varsity game begins at 5 p.m. with varsity at 6:15 p.m. on both days.
A week from tomorrow, the Lady Buccaneers take to the road to play Adams County Christian School with junior varsity at 6 p.m. and varsity taking place at 7:30 p.m.
