Pine High School hosted the Raider Basketball Youth Skills Summer Camp from June 18-21.

“It’s a good community camp,” Pine coach Brett Cooper said. “Just working a lot of fundamentals with these young kids we’ve got representing different schools. We’ve got kids from Bowling Green, Pine, Franklinton, so it’s a big community (event) for the parish. It’s good for the parish.”

Some of the fundamentals they taught at the camp were dribbling, passing, layups and form shooting.

“All of the little tools they need to be a great basketball player and have a good foundation,” Cooper said.

The camp had 55 to 60 participants from second grade through eighth grade.

Second graders through fifth graders attended in the morning while sixth through eighth graders went in the afternoon.

Members of Pine’s coaching staff and members of the school’s boys and girls basketball teams worked at the camp.
