BHS has 2 softball players make all-district honorable mention

Bogalusa’s softball team had two all-district honorable-mention players in 7-3A this season — Mariah Myles and Skyler Keys.
This season, Myles played several positions, including catcher, left field, third base and first base. She drove in seven runs, tallied 11 runs, batted .304 and reached base at a .590 clip. Myles had a double and got by 15 pitches.
Keys also played several positions this year, including shortstop, pitcher and outfield. Keys posted nine RBIs to go with a double, a triple, 13 runs scored and she stole 19 bases. Keys had a .532 on-base percentage. Keys played in all 20 games and only struck out three times.
Archbishop Hannan swept the major district awards.
Infielder Alexis Dale is the Most Valuable Player and Becky Lambert is the league’s Coach of the Year.
Hannan was the No. 2 seed in the playoffs and captured the Division II state title with a 6-2 victory over top-seeded Parkview Baptist in the championship game.
The first-team pitchers are Alex Clesi and Albany’s Brittney Turner.
The catchers include Hannan’s Gentry Spinks and Albany’s Rayanne Ridgell.
Besides Dale, the rest of the infielders are Archbishop Hannan’s Kristen Wegener, Albany teammates Madison Knight and Abby Spring and Jewel Sumner’s Kelsey Saldana.
The top-team’s outfielders are Hannan’s Shelby Thompson, Albany’s Heather Degenhardt, Loranger’s Kassidy Bailey and Jewel Sumner’s Jordan Allen.
The utility players are Amelia Mares and Albany’s Annalee Glamalva.
Albany made the regional round of the Class 3A playoff as the No. 11 seed, but lost to sixth-seeded and quarterfinalist Erath, 1-0, in nine innings.
Jewel Sumner was the 23rd-seeded team in Class 3A, but lost to No. 10 Sterlington, 3-2. Sterlington made it to the regionals.
Switching to the second team, the Jewel Sumner battery of Chloe Stokes and Lauryn Ridgedell are the pitcher and catcher.
The infielders are Archbishop Hannan’s Sydney Thompson, Loranger’s Kamryn Loupe and Jewel Sumner teammates Alana Fussell and Abby Smith.
The outfielders are Archbishop Hannan’s Sarah Dufour, Albany’s Maddie Oubre and Loranger’s Gabby Franicevie.
Loranger’s Ashley Miller is the second-team’s utility player.
In addition to Myles and Keys, the rest of the all-district honorable-mention players are Archbishop Hannan teammates Rylie Bankston and Avery Boudreaux, Albany teammates Brooklyn Saxton, Brianna Smith and Ellie Torrence, Loranger teammates Abby Saba, Natalie Prevost and Lauren Clements and Jewel Sumner’s Sara Fowler, Katelyn Maggio and Hailey Saldana.
