Pine has 4 make 1st team all-district

A quartet of Pine Lady Raiders softball players were named first-team all-district 9-2A.
Shortstop Cassidy Ashe, third baseman Caitlyn Polk, outfielder Makia Clark and pitcher Alyssa Phelps were selected to the top team.
Pine’s second-team all-district players are outfielders Kelsey Jenkins and Kiyasha Clark, first baseman Sydney Thomas, second baseman Elizabeth Barber and catcher Baleigh Dunn.
One player is an honorable-mention all-district player in Dasha Gaither.
This season, Pine reached the playoffs as the 26th-seeded team, but lost to semifinalist and seventh-seeded Avoyelles Public Charter, 14-4, in the bi-district round.
The rest of Pine’s district opponents included Northlake Christian School, Pope John Paul II and Independence.
Northlake Christian School and Pope John Paul II reached the Division III playoffs.
Sixth-seeded Northlake Christian School lost to third-seeded and state runner-up Holy Savior Menard, 7-3, in the quarterfinals.
Pope John Paul II was the 13th-seeded team and fell in the first round to fourth-seeded and semifinalist Riverside Academy, 14-4.
